Lichen-Ren received his doctor’s degree from the School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology， Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2007, and later did postdoctoral research in the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2012, he has worked in the Center for Bio-informatics（CBI）of the School of Life Sciences and the Biomedical Pioneering Innovation Center（BIOPIC）of Peking University until now. The main research direction is the safety assessment of genomic variations in stem cells, as well as the function and evolution of non-coding sequences in the genome.
